MANYA Whole Health & Yoga Combines Functional Medicine and Brain-Based Wellness

MANYA Whole Health & Yoga celebrated its opening in midtown Mobile in November 2023. The services offered at this new holistic wellness center combine private and group yoga, holistic health coaching, energy medicine and brain health coaching. Free monthly health talks and Q&A sessions are open to everyone on the third Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. at MANYA.

“Today, with the rapid development of smart devices, apps and wearables, we are better equipped than ever before to monitor our health. Yet, technology does not make the change for us and looking at measurements without awareness of the many functional links in the body can be confusing,” says Dr. Manja Podratz, board-certified Doctor of Natural Medicine and founder of MANYA Whole Health & Yoga. “This is where knowledgeable guidance comes in and where health coaches help their clients to participate in their healing.”

Podratz has hosted 10 yoga and women empowerment retreats since 2018. During the retreats, women experience a week of clean eating, daily yoga and guided meditation, energy healing, group and individual coaching and customized interventions including BrainTap and HRV training. Many participants report going home with a transformed mindset and new skills for stress management and healthy nutrition. These retreats provided the blueprint for the new wellness center.

“Women’s health is close to my heart,” explains Podratz. “I was diagnosed with uterine cancer in my early 20s and healed myself by dramatically changing my lifestyle. Since then, I have been passionate about learning as much as possible about the human makeup and helping others on their healing journeys.”

Podratz conducted a two-year study about holistic breast cancer prevention which will be published later this year. In her coaching practice, she combines nutritional guidance, auriculotherapy and hypnotherapy for their synergistic effects and uses the Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones (DUTCH) test to monitor her clients’ results. “While holistic breast cancer prevention is important, it is not the only topic that relates to hormonal imbalances. I find it equally important to help women overcome unpleasant symptoms of PMS, PCOS and fibroids with lifestyle changes and non-invasive interventions, and embody their femininity joyfully.”

“Hormonal and neurotransmitter imbalances and stress are closely linked, which is why brain health coaching is such an important part of the holistic approach,” says Podratz, who collaborates with BrainTap and is an affiliate of Amen Clinics.

Podratz has contributed to various publications. Recently, an essay about healing from cancer, published with Dr. Joe Dispenza in Wake Up, Miracles of Healing from Around the World (2020), and a peer-reviewed article on breast cancer prevention, published in An Anthology of Non-Conformism, Rebel Women, Ways, Words, and Wonders (2023).
