Hope Community is thrilled to host the 2nd Annual “Our Roots Run Deep” 5K Race—an inspiring blend of movement, heritage and local pride. Taking place Saturday, January 10 at 8 a.m., this uplifting community event winds through the heart of Fairhope South’s historic neighborhood,  starting and finishing at the historic Anna T. Jeanes School property (Twin Beech Road and South Section Street).

The race isn’t just about crossing a finish line—it’s about honoring history, uplifting neighbors, and growing deeper roots. Proceeds from this event directly fund the development and maintenance of Hope Community’s vision for the property. Plans include a teaching farm and kitchen, community gardens, educational programs and healing spaces that promote unity through food, wellness and learning.

This year’s race welcomes back special guests including Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan, beloved emcee Cecil Christenberry, crowd-favorite DJ Meat, and the Mobile Bay Maker’s Market, bringing local flair and festivity to the finish line.

“’Our Roots Run Deep’ celebrates a shared vision: one where community, culture and collaboration thrive,” says Communications Chairperson, Andolyn Fitzgerald. “Whether you’re a runner, walker, vendor or cheerleader, your presence helps strengthen the impact and imbues the spirit of togetherness upon which Hope Community was founded.”
