Marlene Gast, owner of Yoga With Matrikaa at Eastern Shore Yoga, offers gentle yet powerful therapeutic yoga through online classes and in-person sessions at her home studio. A certified Svaroopa yoga teacher and Embodyment yoga therapist for more than 25 years, Gast works with both beginners and experienced practitioners seeking deeper healing and self-awareness.

Specializing in pain relief, Gast combines therapeutic techniques with a compassionate approach designed to help participants release tension, restore balance and reconnect with their inner vitality.

“This slower-paced, spine-centric yoga is a new paradigm,” says Gast. “Like with chiropractors or osteopaths, every pose targets a specific area of your spine. You get assistance for careful alignment and propping in every pose. As your vertebrae decompress, you open up to your own healing energy—called prana in yoga. Release of tensions throughout your body changes everything.”

Gast explains that classes begin with shavasana, a relaxation pose supported by blankets for comfort and guided meditation. Participants are then led through therapeutic pose sequences that progressively address the tailbone, sacrum, waist, thoracic spine and neck. “Tensions in your body and mind melt,” she says. “Your body-mind chemistry shifts from flight-fight reactivity to pure bliss.”

Students also receive simple yoga practices to use between classes. According to Gast, these tools help participants cultivate greater ease, mobility and self-awareness in their daily lives.
