Breast cancer continues to affect women at high rates, and many are looking for gentle, noninvasive ways to stay attentive to their health. For more than 15 years, Carolyn Olson has offered women along the Gulf Coast exactly that through Thermography Advantage, building her practice around advocating for noninvasive options when it comes to women’s health.

Olson, a certified thermographer and certified lymphatic specialist, opened Thermography Advantage in Mobile in 2009 after discovering the technology during a nursing continuing-education seminar. What began as a professional discovery grew into a career built around offering Gulf Coast residents a gentler alternative for tracking their health over time.

Thermography, formally known as digital infrared thermal imaging, uses an infrared camera to capture patterns of heat and blood flow in the body. It involves no radiation, no compression and no physical contact. “Thermography puts screening decisions back in women’s hands; you can order your own scan without a referral,” Olson says. “It tracks inflammation in the body, which can be an early warning sign before disease develops.”

At Thermography Advantage, scans can address physiology related to breast health, inflammation, vascular issues, autoimmune conditions, the lymphatic system and myofascial issues. Appointments typically run 30 to 45 minutes, and scan options include breast, upper body with breast, breast plus a specific region of interest and full-body imaging. Men can benefit from thermography as well.

The practice uses an FDA-registered infrared camera, and every scan is interpreted by a thermography-certified medical doctor. Clients receive their report by email, along with the option of a phone consultation with Olson to go over the findings, a chance to ask questions and understand what the results mean in the context of their own health.

“It’s about prevention, awareness and giving women confidence in their wellness journey,” adds Olson.

After a brief absence, Thermography Advantage is back in Mobile at a new location: 1010 Schillinger Road South, Suite A. The return brings the practice back within reach of the Mobile community it has served for years. With its established Foley location at 314 East Laurel Avenue, Unit 4, Thermography Advantage once again has a home on both sides of Mobile Bay.
