Natural Awakenings Gulf Coast Alabama Mississippi

Daniel Bishop

Daniel Bishop, DPT, Owner at Bishop Physical Therapy

Offering physical therapy and natural manual medicine modalities to help people recover from chronic pain, spine disorders, balance and vestibular issues, orthopedic problems and concussions.

If anyone understands the struggle of trying to get over a serious injury, Dr. Daniel Bishop does. In 1993, his junior year at Fairhope High School, Bishop suffered a car crash with multiple fractured vertebrae in his neck that resulted in a five-level spinal fusion. “Recovering from this accident and the pain that followed led me into physical therapy to help others with serious injuries and painful limitations,” says Bishop.

In the years that followed the accident, Bishop worked to overcome chronic pain and spinal stenosis. Seeking answers for his own limitations led to obtaining a bachelor’s degree in pre-med biology, master’s degree in physical therapy and doctorate in physical therapy (DPT).

Following graduation, Bishop was having considerable back and neck pain which motivated him to travel to many places around the world to train with and be treated by many different natural practitioners. During his travels, he acquired many certifications in hands-on therapy including dry needling for pain management, sports medicine and pelvic health. He became a certified spinal manipulation therapist, a certified sacroiliac joint therapist, certified in osteopathic manipulative therapy and gained certifications in cupping, muscle scaping, blood flow restriction training, kinesiology taping, podiatric and extremity manipulative therapy, postural biomechanical correction as well certifications in vestibular, balance and concussion management. Although he has been out of school nearly 20 years, he considers himself a life- long learner and continues to study daily to better serve his patients.

“There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing someone get over a terrible injury and return to normal life without limitations,” says Bishop.

Bishop is the owner of Bishop Physical Therapy in Daphne, Alabama, where therapy is done on a one-to-one basis in a private room setting.
