A Future-Oriented Church

Open Table, a congregation of the United Church of Christ, a progressive and inclusive denomination, is pleased to announce that it is growing and expanding its outreach under the pastoral guidance of Pastor Josh Noah.

The church holds regular Sunday services in the rear chapel of All Saints Episcopal Church in Mobile and plans to do so for three out of four Sundays each month. In order to serve a broader population, Open Table will start meeting in January at a location on the Eastern Shore on the fourth Sunday. Planning is still in the early stages, so check Open Table’s website and Facebook page for updates later this fall. “No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here,” says Noah.

Open Table welcomes people of all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations and spiritual leanings. The church recognizes that not all people feel welcomed by religious and other organizations because of who they are or what they believe. Open Table respects independent thought and self-actualization and is especially welcoming of anyone struggling to find a spiritual community where they are accepted unconditionally.

While the pastor and most of the congregation self-identify as progressive Christians, what unites the congregation is the love of God. According to Noah, “The life of faith is not about ascribing to certain doctrines, but instead about aligning our lives with God’s love, following in Jesus’ hopeful ways and being guided by the Holy Spirit.”

Sunday services are held in the rear chapel behind All Saints Episcopal Church, 151 Ann St., Mobile, AL 36604 and live-streamed on Facebook. Visit OpenTableUCC.org for more information.
